IFI is a unique entity formed to identify and promote forestry investment opportunities and offer professional forestry consulting services toward these projects globally. The following is a partial list of properties and opportunities that we have available. All prices are in US dollars. Details provided are often estimates only, but based on information believed to be accurate, or the best available. Where volumes for standing timber is shown, the general conversion is 1 cubic meter equals approximately 170 board feet. Further verification is needed by any investor. We would be happy to provide more information on any of the properties listed below, on IFI and its services, or to put you on our list to keep you informed of new opportunities.

BELIZE

140,000 acres, west central Belize.
Entire property tropical mixed hardwood forest. Has been operated as a timber operation in recent years, and site includes a sawmill and extensive road system. About 40,000 acres has had no activity within the last 40 to 50 years. Timber volume is estimated to be 75 to 100 million board feet, with about 20% consisting of mahogany and Spanish cedar.

Forest/farm property in central Belize near the national capital of Belmopan and on the Belize River. The property includes 1,422 acres of farm, oranges and rice; and 9,000 acres of tropical, hardwood secondary forest. This property includes 2 very large storage facilities, house, workers quarters, workshop/warehouse, and farm equipment. SERIOUS SELLERS

BRAZIL

  A number of large properties are available upon request. Properties containing significant volumes of harvestable timber are available for $10 to $25/acre, and sometimes less. Tracts generally range from a few thousand acres to several hundred thousand acres.
 

CHILE

bullet 360,000 acres, southeast of Puerto Monte.
250,000 acres mature, native forest predominately coigue and linga. 100,000 acres pasture, most of which would be suitable for plantations of pine or eucalyptus. Several large lakes. Timber volume estimated at 3.4 billion board feet.

NICARAGUA

  35,000 acres, eastern Nicaragua, southwest of Bluefields.
All virgin, hardwood forest cover. Located on the Punta Gorda River less than 25 miles from the Caribbean Sea. Timber volume estimated at 600 million board feet, 3.6 million cubic meters. Property is surrounded by government owned land, but owner has easement to develop road into property. Owner seeks buyer committed to environmentally sensitive development or use.

BOLIVIA

2 Timber Concessions in Eastern Boliva

  1. Aserradero Surutu has a concession area of 111,731 hectares (275,976 acres), estimated inventory is 9 million cubic meters (1.6 billion board feet). Production since 1997 has totaled 78,000 m3 of primarily roble, an average of 7,000 m3/year (3 million board feet). Potential annual harvest on at a sustainable level is estimated at 112,000 to 225,000 m3/year.
  2. Aserradero Guillet includes a 42,578 ha. concession (105,168 acres) which includes a 8,000 ha. lake. Only 8,000 to 10,000 m3 have been removed from this area since it began operation. Most of sawmill production has come from purchase of logs from other owners while developing access into the concession area. Principle species include true mahogany, yesquero negro and blanco, biboi (also known as white mahogany), and ochoo. Paved road to the concession being completed in 1998.

A dry kiln capacity of 275 m3. There is additional equipment here to allow for custom wood product development, carpentry work, and resawing of lumber.


VENEZUELA

330,000 acre concession, tropical hardwood forest area, and full ownership of ongoing plywood production facility. Concession is for 25 years, renewable for an additional25 years. Annual harvest is authorized at 215,000 m3 (roughly 40 billion board feet), in trees greater than 16" dbh. Current operation has only been harvesting 30,000 m3/yr. Asking prices is $4,300,000. An additional $650,000 investment is needed to allow for full production of mill
